Both. We are a bakery and our restaurant menu is built around our homemade breads and desserts.

How long have you been in business?

Merridee and Tom McCray started this business in 1981. Marilyn and Jim Kreider purchased Merridee's Breadbasket from the McCray family in 1994.

Those two large flags hanging in your store, where are they from?
A.
Merridee was of Swedish descent and Tom, her husband, is of Scottish. The blue and yellow one is the flag of Sweden and the yellow and red one is the Scottish Lion Rampant flag.

How long can your baked goods be stored?
A.
All our products are preservative-free and therefore are best enjoyed right away, but can be refrigerated for 3-5 days. Most of our breads, pies and coffee cakes freeze beautifully up to 6-8 weeks. Just thaw at room temperature and serve.

Are your products available To-Go?
A.
Yes, all our products are available To-Go – from individual lunches to pounds of chicken salad, whole quiches, 1/2 gallons of fruit tea, loaves of bread, coffee cakes, etc. Call ahead or check out our stocked deli case and bakery shelves/cases.

Not at this time. We are currently working to make several of our products available for shipping very soon. Please check back with us.

We do cater on a limited basis – see our catering menu. We also suggest our boxed lunches for your business lunch or special event.

How many grains are in your Viking Bread™?
A.
There are four - whole wheatberries, flaxseed, sesame seeds and sunflower seeds. It is made without eggs, sugar or honey. Runners, bikers and hikers like our Viking Sticks which are candy bar-size snacks made with Viking Bread dough, dates, nuts and raisins or apricots. They are a healthy and tasty source of energy!
